350 Bay Area is joining the Bicycle Music Festival folks for a September extravaganza in Oakland. This year’s Bay Area festival is in partnership with Love Our Lake Day, an independent street closure organized by WOBO. At the 2014 Love Our Lake Day, there were two Pedal Powered Stages, one organized by Rock The Bike at Home Away From Home and the other by Justin Ancheta at the Amphitheater. BMF is familiar and really into Lake Merritt as a venue. BMF's most recent events at Lake Merritt Amphitheater have included 2 Climate Rallies, an anti-GMO rally, and an environmental global water day. So it’s fitting that this year’s BMF is going to be a Climate Concert — a concert punctuated by intelligent and inspiring speeches.
At those rallies we helped Pedal Power, there was some music, but mostly speaking. At BMF it’s going to be mostly music with some speaking. At 5PM we’ll still go on our famed LiveOnBike performance parade to our yet-to-be-announced Night Venue. Below: the Night Venue of the 2013 BMF: a street closure in the Mission.
