#NoDAPL Global Day of Action-Marin

The Standing Rock Water Protectors were recently brutally attacked by the Morton County North Dakota Sheriff’s Department usingonehorsemanNoDAPL.jpg rubber bullets, concussion grenades, tear gas and water canon injuring over 300 peaceful protectors.   And now the Army Corps of Engineers is ordering the eviction of one of the main indigenous camps on December 5, which ensures an escalation of violence. The Water Protectors have no intention of leaving their ancestral lands to allow Energy Transfer Partners to lay Dakota Access pipeline under the Missouri River putting water supplies for millions of people at risk.

This may signal that the Obama Administration has not yet decided to honor commitments made to the Standing Rock Sioux for further study of environmental impacts. The Water Protectors responded today with this statement.

Oceti Sakowin Encampments Ordered for Eviction - recent picture

A Global Day of Action has been called for on Dec. 1 focused on the banks funding the Dakota Access Pipeline.  The current funding was set up based on it being completed by January 1st.  Citibank once again seems the best place to focus our solidarity action in support of the Water Protectors on Thursday evening as it is the lead bank. This is the first day of a month of Divest yourself of the big banks funding this project and other solidarity actions.

If you have money in any of these banks in Marin below and haven't yet moved to one that helps rather than, like these, damages our chances of planetary survival, please consider making the change now.  Tell the manager why you are doing it:

Citibank, Wells Fargo, Chase, Bank of America, Bank of the West (BNP Paribas), US Bank, Citizens Bank

In the meantime, join us with your signs, drums, and voices for a peaceful action tonight to show we are with the Water Protectors at Oceti Sakowin Camp in their refusal to leave their ancestral lands and for all those at all the camps there who are fighting for our future.  We expect to have a brief ceremony at 4:15 before the start of the Action at 4:30.
